A cool place in NYC that my wife picked out. They had a lemon blueberry French toast special that my wife got and it definitely hit the spot for us. My dish was the sausage gravy smothered chicken with grits. It was tremendous as well. I don't recall our waitress name, but she was great at her job. Probably the best one I've ever had in the city!

Always wanted to try this place, and I'm happy I did! The slow country meatloaf dinner was so good, it was tender, the mashed potatoes were creamy! It also came with a biscuit with cinnamon butter on top, and Cole slaw. I don't like Coleslaw but theirs was so good and made in house. The fried onions on top of this dish sets it off. The shrimps & grits were delicious! The grits had just enough butter, the shrimps weren't overcooked and the bacon bits really tied the dish together. The service was great. The restaurant was clean and I love the theme. Definitely will be going here again!

The food is amazing and gigantic portions. I got the chicken biscuit with sausage gravy and it lasted me two meals! Unfortunately it was REALLY loud in there - a combo of loud conversation and very loud music, so I tried to get out of there as fast as I could. Maybe I'll come back for lunch when it's calmer than dinner.

En route to New York City, we were googling something and wound up discovering Jacob's Pickles completely by accident. The place sounded very promising and very cool, so we vowed to pop in if we could manage it. So it was on our last day for our last meal we decided to pop into Jacob's Pickles. We showed up around 6:30 on a Friday evening and even though the place was hopping, we managed to snag an end spot on a long communal table. I knew before we got there that I wanted one of their chicken sandwiches topped with a ridiculous amount of sliced pickles, so I decided to go with the Honey Chicken And Pickles ("Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Hot Sours, Clover Honey"). It arrived to the table a short while later and as promised, it arrived absolutely smothered in pickles. I didn't bother trying to eat this gargantuan concoction as a sandwich, but man did I enjoy the heck out of it. It all works so well, from the perfectly fried chicken to the spicy pickles to the sweet honey. It's seriously delicious. I also figured I should drink at least one Manhattan during our trip, so I ordered the Michter's American Manhattan ("Michter's American Whiskey, Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth, Bourbon Soaked Montmorency Cherry, Angostura Bitters"). It's a really good drink. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but it gave me all the flavors I'm looking for in a first-class Manhattan, so I was happy. Jacob's Pickles is such a cool place, from the food to the ambiance to the boisterous vibe. I'd make this a regular spot if I lived in the area.

Went after spending the day at the museum of natural history My friend from Fla flew up with his family and we had 6 of us in the party It was bench seating so a little hard to talk to everyone but the service and food made up for it. The place was packed but our server was fast and friendly We got the deviled eggs and slab bacon to start both we're great I got the chicken and pancakes and ate the whole big plate The only negative was not enough syrup Everyone else loved the food they got so I highly recommended if in the area

Delicious food and fun ambience at Jacob's Pickles! I loved this "Southern" style food served at this restaurant. For our pickled item, we ordered the Sweet & Spicy Carrots which had flavors of cinnamon and clove. Very interesting to try! Good crunch and slightly sweet/sour. We also got the Honey Chicken and Pickles (with a side of hot sauce) that was great. I really enjoyed the juicy fried chicken; it paired really well with the acidity of the Hot Sours pickles. I will say, the grits were not my favorite. There was not really any flavor to the grits and they were also a mushy/grainy/gritty (haha) texture. The hot sauce was very good; not too spicy! I would recommend ordering the Hot Chicken Biscuit over the Honey Chicken and Pickles if you can handle a bit of spice. The hot sauce gave it a lot more flavor. Finally, we ordered the Classic Mac & Cheese. Honestly, this left me a bit disappointed. This was definitely a very creamy/heavy/cheesy dish. I didn't find that there was much flavor to it. To counter, I am not the biggest fan of mac and cheese (I've only ever found 1-2 mac and cheeses in my life that I really enjoyed). Maybe the Classic was just a bit bland and we should have ordered the buffalo or the midnight versions, but this was a skip in my opinion. Also wanted to mention that our server was so sweet! She answered all our questions, was very friendly, and made the experience 4 stars. Glad I tried Jacob's Pickles but I'm not rushing to come back or anything.

Finally tried this place after all the hype, and while I didn't get the famous pickles, I do have to say it does live up to its reputation. They serve mainly heavy southern food here, with an emphasis on heavy. Most of their popular dishes have biscuits and butter of some kind, so you'll be breaking your diet for sure here. I had the croque madame, which was excellent, but I could only finish about 1/5th of it in one sitting; they give you a large portion of food. They've got a LOT of seating indoors, with traditional booth and table seating as well as bar seating and outdoor seating. I honestly thought it'd be difficult to get a table here, but they were completely empty at opening. Staff is welcoming and helpful. Their tables are a tiny bit on the smaller side which sometimes makes things crowded. Also, the chair seats are higher than the booths, so shorter folks should sit on the chairs, unless you want to look down at your partner. Overall, I'd definitely go back. Food isn't cheap, but not overly pricey either, with most dishes ranging from $18-25 in price.

This UWS Southern food joint is always packed on the weekends and is definitely a brunch hotspot. Highly recommend coming with reservations, and if you walk in be prepared to wait! I've been here a couple of times, both with reservations and as walk-ins. My most recent trip was on a Saturday around noon and we waited 15-20 minutes for an outdoor table. They have tons of outdoor seating, which definitely helps with the wait time. Things I've tried: Egg and Cheese Biscuit Sandwich Honey Chicken and Pickles Biscuit Sandwich Biscuit French Toast Chicken and Pancakes Classic Mac & Cheese Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese Biscuits and Fixins Standouts include the Buffalo Mac (so cheesy and creamy, with a much-needed tangy kick from the Buffalo sauce) and the Honey Chicken and Pickles Biscuit (completed covered with pickles). Their fried chicken itself is good, but I think the standout here is the biscuit dough. Side note: they use the same dough for their pancakes- the pancakes literally taste like sweet biscuits! The portions are also huge(!!!) and you'll definitely leave with leftovers. Overall I really like this place, even as someone originally from the South. Between the massive portions and the greasy carb-heavy food, it's definitely a bit nostalgic for me. Service is also consistently good. This is a great option if you're looking for delicious, greasy food the morning after a night out, trying to people-watch in the UWS, or bringing hungry out-of-towners.

!!! warning !!! if you come here order half of what you usually would order because the servings here are MASSIVE. We came here for my friend's 21st birthday and the waiter was so nice he gave her a free birthday shot! Overall decent food, I'm not a huge fan of Southern food so I rated it a 7.5 but take that with a grain of salt Mac n Cheese (9/10): So yum. This dish is rich and creamy and the beset part is the perfectly crusted top House Fries (7/10): The House Fries had a good texture, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It paired really well with their complimentary side sauces. Also ordering fries with our ceasar was a must Chicken Ceasar Salad (7/10): This dish was okay, but not a huge standout. The portion was huge, but the salad was kinda dry so we asked for an extra side of the sauce. Honestly this was more like fried chicken with a side of salad rather than salad with chicken LOL
